KEY STAGE 3 (YEAR 7, 8 & 9)

Overview
At Ardence International Secondary School, our Cambridge Lower Secondary programme, Key Stage 3 (KS3), offers a robust foundation for students in Years 7, 8, and 9. This stage is pivotal in laying the groundwork for success in the subsequent educational stages, providing a comprehensive and balanced curriculum that nurtures intellectual curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

What is KS3 in Cambridge Lower Secondary?
Key Stage 3 (KS3) is the first stage of secondary education in the Cambridge curriculum, typically covering students aged 11 to 15. The programme is designed to build on the knowledge and skills acquired in primary education, preparing students for the rigours of Cambridge Upper Secondary (IGCSE) and beyond. Through a broad range of subjects, KS3 helps students develop a deeper understanding of core academic concepts while fostering personal and social growth.

Assessment
At Ardence International Secondary School, the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint serves as a key milestone for our Year 9 students. This internationally recognised assessment provides valuable insight into each learner’s academic progress across core subjects, allowing us to benchmark their performance against global standards.

Through these assessments, our teachers identify individual strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that every student receives the guidance and support needed to excel in the IGCSE years. The Checkpoint examination not only measures achievement but also prepares our learners for the academic rigour and expectations of upper secondary education.

Our personalised approach to learning in Secondary means that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in an environment that prioritises academic care and a focus on the development of the whole child.
